Episode 53 – Hocus Pocus (This Podcast Lacks Focus)

We meant this to be the Second Annual Boy Howdy Podcast Halloween Extravaganza, but despite this episode’s Schindler’s List-length runtime, we only got around to addressing listeners’ Halloween questions (or talk about horrifying comics) during the last 15 minutes of the podcast. Consider yourselves lucky that we didn’t slip razors into your Snickers this year, kids.

In this week’s opening WHAT ELSE? segment we talk about Elementary, Halloween love + fart attacks on Parks and Recreation, our fanfiction alterna-casting of Amy and David Sedaris as Kenneth’s hillbilly parents on 30 Rock, Anne learning about the gulf between the middle class and rich kids’ toys via American Girl dolls, the beauty that is the Journey art book, the creepiness of Karloff’s Mummy and Claude Rains’ Invisible Man and Bill’s idea to mashup Back to the Future with Assassin’s Creed.

In the Geek Week In Review we talk about the Walking Dead retail bundle (complete with 1000-page comic compendium), the new Bioshock Infinite trailer, “Doritogate“, the failure of Denny’s Hobbit-themed breakfast specials, the launch of Polygon and Kotaku’s great expose how Denis Dyack seems to be running his game studio Silicon Knights into the ground.

Lastly (at the 2 hr 27 min mark) it’s our Dishonored spoilercast.
