Episode 25 – Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra

Between Friday the 13th and the almost-100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic we’re surprised we didn’t get run over by an iceberg driven by a black cat while recording this episode. We thank our lucky stars by chatting about the origin of Friday the 13th, Anne’s semi-disasterous outing to see Cirque du Soleil (and her resulting commitment to hit a gym), Dan Simmons’ Hyperion, LaLaLand Record’s re-issue of the Hook soundtrack, the Looper trailer, cereal marshmallows, Ron Sworschach, the “I Know That Voice” documentary and the Talkin’ Tunes podcast.

Then it’s on to this week’s main topic where we implore everyone on the planet to give Avatar: The Last Airbender (or it’s sequel series, The Legend of Korra) a try. We specifically delve into why we dig that universe so much – its wit, the strong female characters, multicultural cast, solid world-building, great sibling dynamics and, well, Lin Bei Fong.
